GA Statutes require all persons convicted of two or more DUI within 5 years to attend a DUI School, have a clinical evaluation by an approved evaluator, and, if indicated, satisfactorily complete a Multiple Offender Treatment Program in order to be eligible to get their driver's license back.

4. Can I clear my license record in Georgia if I had traffic violations in another State?

 Yes, off course.

9.  When I come to the MOP program I plan to work in my spare time.  Can I bring my cell phone, laptop, pager, etc.?

No, not in the classroom or group room or movie theater or Church.

10.  Will my family and friends be able to reach me while I am at the program?

They will be able to call the program and leave a message for you.  However, federal confidentiality laws prohibit staff from disclosing information about you or even telling them you are there.  Staff will take a message and tell the person that while they can neither confirm nor deny that you are there, they will give a message to you if you are.  You can return calls on your break.  If there is an extreme emergency, someone would give you a message immediately.
The federal confidentiality laws are in place for your protection and privacy.  It is helpful if participants tell family and friends about this requirement so they will not be upset when they try to contact you and cannot talk to immediately when they call.

11.  I was convicted of DUI in another state and moved to GA. Before I can receive a GA license, I have to complete the other state requirements. Can I do that in Georgia?

The state in which a person is convicted determines the program requirements.  You must be cleared in the state where you received your DUI conviction in order to be eligible for a license in GA.  Often the state where a person is convicted will allow an individual to complete an equivalent program in another state, but this varies from state to state.  You will need to call the Department of Driver Services in the state where you received your DUI conviction to obtain information on the specific requirements.  If that state determines that a GA program will satisfy their requirements. Find one on the website and negotiate with that treatment provider.

12.    I have completed the DUI program but the Department of Driver Services (DDS) told me they don't have my paperwork.  What do I do now?

All paper work goes to you and you take or mail it to Department of Driver Services.

13.   I had a DUI conviction 12 years ago.  I haven't drunk in 10 years and would like to get my license back.  Why do I have to go to a DUI Intervention Program?

GA Statutes require all persons convicted of a DUI violation to satisfactorily complete a specific DUI educational program in order to be eligible to get their driver's license back.  Therefore, you must complete a DUI program no matter how long it has been since you got your DUI and no matter how long it has been since you had your last drink. There is no time limit, you can’t wait it out.
